Sony Mobile releases Firefox OS ROM for Xperia E

Sony Mobile has now released an “experimental” Firefox OS ROM for the Xperia E.

The news highlights just how serious the company is with its Firefox OS ambitions. The ROM can be installed on an Xperia E by using Sony Mobile’s Flash Tool software. You will need to make sure your bootloader is unlocked before using the software. Obviously the ROM is not intended for daily use, but may appeal to those who want to test this emergent OS. There is no radio connectivity in this ROM which means you won’t be able to make calls, or use Wi-FI and Bluetooth. Also, Sony says that the touch sensitivity is not fully calibrated.

This is not a custom hack ROM but was built by Sony Mobile themself to test out and maybe try to beat Apple-Google domination in the mobile world.
