ASUS PadFone 2 - Two is better than One

This is the 2nd gen of the famous ASUS PadFone. It carries out the idea of having One data plan with 2 devices. i am one of the supporters anyway. the idea is great for people who are not keen to do duplicate data plan or have 2 different data plan. It sure benefit us rather than the telco companies.

the phone screen is larger than the older brother. its a 4.7 inch 720p IPS screen. cool huh? so bad it doenst support SD card extension.

The Padfone 2 is an ICS device and pack a powerfull quad-processor.

OSAndroid OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), planned upgrade to v4.1
ChipsetQualcomm MDM215m/APQ8064
CPUQuad-core 1.5 GHz Krait
GPUAdreno 320

For more info on the device you can go to ENGADGET or go to GSMARENA

The Iphone Body with the Android Soul - its MX!

Meet the Meizu MX. the proud of China. The First of its kind, This is the Evolution of China technology Craftmenship. The Quad-Core Meizu MX.

Main Features,
  • 21.6 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA
  • 4.0" 16M-color ASV capacitive touchscreen with 640 x 960 pixels resolution; Gorilla glass
  • 1.4 GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset, 1GB of RAM
  • 16GB, 32GB & 64GB of internal storage
  • Great audio effect and video format supported
  • Support 3G call with a VGA 0.3MP front camera and 8MP Wide-Angel
  • Has a standard 3.5 audio jack
  • Flyme User Interface
  • Has all Android 4.0 ICS has to offer.

Thing you need to know,

The phone has a non removable battery meaning its unserviceable at some country but i read at the xda forum. a few developers has find a way to hack into it. upgrade the battery and etc

The other thing is it only support microsims. so its either go to your service provider to get a microsim,or just cut your sim to a smaller size. But i seen on some website that there have been an adapter so if the phone is faulty you can use the adapter to fit your sim to a standard simcard slot on a normal phone.

The MicroUSB port supports a lot of functions. you can use it for data connection to a computer, charging, HD TV-Out over a MHL link and S/PDIF.

Flyme User Interface - The interface is kinda like MIUI. If you familiar with that term than you'll understand why i say its almost the same. since MIUI was founded by China Android Developers. Here's a Interface review by GSMarena

Hardware Performance,

The Meizu MX is powered up by 1700mah battery. The android version is 4.0 ICS but heavily customized. You wont find any original ICS icon in there. The chipset is the famous Exynos that mostly used in samsung android phone. The quad-core CPU was clock at 1.4ghz and the GPU is Mali-400MP which was also use in samsung phone. so from that you know the hardware used in this monster are mostly samsung.

Verdict,

So it a great phone to have if you looking for something that is different from the native android and a bit of iphonish. its something that stand in between of the OS.

The Monster T

Well i have been waiting for Sony to release this monster for some time now after i heard the news. honestly i dont like the name, its lazy and unmotivated (in my opinion). The Xperia T is the latest smartphone flagship device for the Xperia series from Sony Mobile. If you havent heard or see this phone yet. just keep on reading.

the front camera is 1.3MP

this phone carries the "arch" design legacy which is thinner in the middle.

what sucks about this phone is, it does come with a big display. but it doesnt pack a quad-core processor and is not a Jelly-Bean pre-installed device. we all know ICS doesnt support flash player in browser. Well having a flash player is the main thing about android that separate it from iphone.

but at some site reveal that the price might as well be on par with other quadcore device. that mean... its gonna be pricy and we have to think and consider a lot before we can make a decision to get the phone or not.

Even it doesnt have a 4core processor. but chipset used in this device is a very high-end with a great customized clocking speed which promise a great xperience. i mean the Adreno GPU is said to be better and more stable than Mali GPU.

    • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8260A
  • Processor:
    • Dual core, 1500 MHz, Krait
  • Graphics processor:
      • Adreno 225
  • System memory:
    • 1024 MB RAM
  • Built-in storage:
    • 16 GB
  • Storage expansion:
    • microSD, microSDHC up to 32 GB

But that's is not the main attraction of the masterpiece. watch closely at the picture below!

do you see the resolution the camera offer here? yes. its pack with a super camera, 13MP with a Exmore R sensor 1/3" and a lens with a f/2.4 aperture. the pixel size said to be smaller than other high-end phone that is about 1.12 microns.

here's what GSMARENA says about the camera.

and other reviewer like phonearena and TechRadar

If u are a normal user, then having either one of the phone above wont make any different. most of the time you would be satisfied with the normal usage.

a heavy user would consider the "processor" speed, GPU speed, RAM speed and ROM size especially heavy gamer and tech geeks. not forgeting the battery capacity, how much long it would last.

A super User in the other hand, would like to see how the phone can perform under certain condition. they would look at "maintainance" - serviceable or not, "data management" - manual backups and restore, "speeds" - overclocking and underclocking, "performance management" - able to root and adding scripts to handle Ram speed. mostly a Super User would root their phone first before exploring the phone.

be sure to check out their verdict and conclusion too. well, im quite sad it does not have a quad-core processor. i was hoping to jump from 600Mz processor to a quadcore device. I'm still considering to jump to other brand also.

thanks for viewing!!! have a good day!

the xperia mini's

Sony Ericsson Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro are the two newest Android smartphones with a compact form factor that joins the Xperia family. See Marcus Hansson show them off. You will also see Fredrik do a demo of some of the Facebook inside features in Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro.

let's call it like this, the Xperia Mini is the miniature version of Xperia Arc and the Mini Pro is the miniature version of the Xperia Pro. this miniature android powered device is the cutest smartphone ever. with a snapdragon and great capability compared to the Xperia X10 mini's. im planning on getting one. U can get an AP set about RM700 - RM800 and its worth the price. not sure it will be a replacement for my X8 but hey, X8 is good but im getting tired moding it anyway.
